At the bottom, did you see that rush of water come in down there?
Oh no, it’s still coming in. Can you see that?

From embarking on their quest for centuries-old treasure to letting the world witness the immense discoveries made on The Curse of Oak Island, the Lagina brothers have come a long way. Let’s take a look at the astonishing discoveries the Laginas have made on this mysterious island.

Long before Oak Island became the fabled treasure-hunting spot that it is today, it was recognized as one of the beautiful islands off the south coast of Nova Scotia, amid a few rural towns and villages. There is actually nothing ordinary about this fascinating island.

Aside from its beautiful foliage, the island is known to be occupied by fascinating species such as great blue herons, ospreys, black guillemots, and other fascinating birds considered endangered species. Furthermore, its magnificent topography, made up of four outstanding drumlins, adds to the precious nature of the enigmatic island.

Nonetheless, it is underneath such an island that these eager treasure hunters hope to find the massive fortune that has eluded many for hundreds of years. The problem with doing this the simple way, with a long-reach excavator, is that we do not have a stable hole. I mean, if we had dug a big pit with stable sides, we could go down and look at it.

The search for this mysterious fortune on Oak Island began all the way back in the 18th century. This is when the first of many rumors surrounding buried treasure and the enigmatic island began. It was around the time that the legendary Captain Kidd was believed to have buried his massive fortune on Oak Island.

Soon, treasure-hunting rumors began swelling over the next hundred years or so as other historical figures started getting linked to the island—from monarchs such as Marie Antoinette to famous playwrights such as William Shakespeare, to historical military organizations like the Knights Templar.

Anybody who was anybody at the time seemed to think that Oak Island was the perfect place to bury treasure. We’re guessing that the amazing relics discovered over time, such as ancient manuscripts, added to these fascinating rumors.

Nonetheless, every notion has its detractors, and those who did not believe in the legends surrounding Oak Island dismissed such stories and their incidental discoveries as natural phenomena. Regardless, this didn’t stop treasure-hunting enthusiasts from searching for the original Money Pit, the epicenter of the treasure-hunting frenzy on Oak Island, believed to be the first spot where Daniel McGinnis and his friends made the first digs in search of treasure.

Experts in this game claim that this legendary spot must be located on the eastern side of the island. That’s where they believe they can find this 100-foot deep pit that McGinnis and his buddies must have dug all the way back in 1795 when they found a strange depression on the floor.

Other intriguing spots on the island include Nolan’s Cross and the triangle-shaped swamp that the Lagina brothers and co. have been investigating for years.

As such, you can see why many couldn’t resist the urge to try their luck on Oak Island. Unfortunately for them, all they do is join the long list of men that made the thankless journey to the island.

It is only now, more than 200 years after the first shovel was thrust into the earth in search of this massive fortune, that anyone has come close to unearthing the mysterious treasure. We’re talking about the Lagina brothers, a pair of treasure-hunting siblings who decided to embark on this thankless task.

To be honest, it seemed to be their destiny because treasure hunting seemed to be a part of them. It all started with big brother Rick, who dragged his little brother Marty and some friends out into the fields when he came across a boulder. Although this never yielded fruit, the burning desire to uncover the truth never died within them.

Once Rick came across the enigmatic Oak Island in a Reader’s Digest when he was still a kid, it was a wrap, as the brothers found their life’s mission within those pages.

Now, we watch them as they embark on a journey full of endurance and determination as they seek to surpass all those who failed to unearth the elusive treasure.

In the process, they have gone ahead to reveal some of the history of those who had lived on the island, long forgotten by history and the sands of time.

All the while, these men have enthralled the world as they televised their mission on The Curse of Oak Island TV show. We all watched as the brothers and their crew scoured the island for treasure, only to uncover the history of the island through the discovery of artifacts and cryptic codes.

Despite having to swallow disappointment for over a decade, we know that the Lagina brothers and their team will never stop until they make the amazing discovery of treasure on the island.

While they still haven’t come across those massive treasure chests filled with gold and other unimaginable treasures, The Curse of Oak Island TV crew began to make other historically significant discoveries as they televised their treasure-hunting mission on captivating Oak Island.

For example, after a particular dig during the third season of the show, they came across an ancient Roman sword. This was historically significant because, if this sword was authentic, it meant that ancient Romans must have been on the island long before Christopher Columbus discovered the Americas.

As if that wasn’t amazing enough, they also took note of a coin with Knights Templar symbols on it. It sort of looks like a Templar cross, huh?

Could this mean that this medieval religious military organization made that trip across the Atlantic as well? Couple this with the discovery of ancient pottery pieces, and you’ll find there’s another source of treasure on Oak Island—the treasure of history.
