Savannah Chrisley BLASTS Federal Judge for Upholding Mom Julie Chrisley's 7 Year Prison Sentence|E!
Savannah Chrisley is speaking out about her mother’s resentencing.
During a September 25th press conference outside of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia in downtown Atlanta, the 27-year-old blasted the judge who upheld Julie Chrisley’s 7-year prison sentence for her 2022 conviction of tax evasion and bank fraud. Savannah said:
“I’m very disappointed, but the judge showed her cards. And I think if people do their research on this judge and see how many times she’s been reversed and remanded back, it’ll tell us enough. So, we’re going to move forward with appealing this sentence, and that’ll happen within the next 14 days.”
During Julie’s court appearance, the former reality star issued a tearful apology to both the court for her actions and to her children for having to deal with the legal fallout. However, Savannah expressed that the court didn’t take her mother’s remorse or good behavior in prison into account during the resentencing. She believes this is a miscarriage of justice, explaining:
“We’ve seen the injustices happen time and time again, and the prosecutors here—they’re absolutely ridiculous and clearly uneducated. What has happened is an injustice.”
The podcast host also addressed alleged remarks made by the federal judge during Julie’s hearing, where the judge claimed Savannah had been using her family’s legal troubles for media attention. Savannah clapped back, saying:
“That it is for TV ratings or podcast ratings is laughable, because both of my parents are sitting in federal prison. This has nothing to do with ratings.”
Julie’s husband, and Savannah’s father, Todd Chrisley, is currently serving 12 years behind bars for his own tax evasion and bank fraud convictions. Despite this latest legal setback, Savannah says she will not stop advocating for her parents’ release, stating:
“I will continue to fight for my parents, and I will be as loud as I can possibly be because the judge clearly showed today that she was using my outspokenness to change a system that is so broken.”
