‘Curse Oak Oak Island’ Finds Elusive Tunnel Under Garden Shaft?
One of the most frustrating things about watching The Curse of Oak Island is that the team sets out to find something they believe is under the island every season. However, by the end of every season, they might be a little closer but never find exactly what they were looking for. That might have changed this season.
The team believes it has found the tunnel they were sure was under the Garden Shaft. This could lead them closer to the island’s secrets.
Curse of Oak Island finds something under Garden Shaft
Over the past few seasons on The Curse of Oak Island, the team has started to get closer to finding things they believe are under the island. Before this, it was mostly speculation and a few trinkets and objects they found here and there. However, in the most recent episode, they might have finally hit upon something that could unbury their biggest conquest.
Technology has improved by leaps and bounds over the years since The Curse of Oak Island premiered. There are no sonar devices and more that have mapped out the land under the island. This is where they believe there are possible hidden treasure vaults. One of the locations that the electronic surveying picked up was in the Garden Shaft area. The team already believed this area was a key to finding the treasure.
Now, the team is working in that area and Dumas is probe drilling at the bottom of the Garden Shaft. This is a huge relief because flooding in the area kept frustrating the team as they waited for the right time. The Dumas team dug down to around 90 feet straight down and when they hit 97 feet, they struck something. On the monitors, they watched as it hit something and it was a huge moment for the reality TV series.
Is there a tunnel under the Garden Shaft on Curse of Oak Island?
When the drill casing came back up, it showed a big piece of wood. The team sent it for immediate Carbon-14 dating. The team hopes the date is pre-1790s. This could mean that they have finally hit the tunnels under the Garden Shaft that could finally lead to the treasure vaults they believe are underground.
That is the good news. The bad news is that the current Curse of Oak Island season will once again end without any real discoveries. The Lagina brothers said there wouldn’t be a new “big dig” this season. The brothers said there isn’t enough time to bring in the equipment needed this late in the current season.
However, there is a good chance they spend the rest of the season playing around in the Garden Shaft as they start to search for more artifacts in the area that could lead to more clues about the treasure.
