Savannah Chrisley speaks after parents' appeals hearing in Atlanta
DO YOU ALL THINK THINGS WENT IN COURT TODAY?
I THINK IT’S ALWAYS HARD TO TELL.
IAN, THE COURT’S CLEARLY CONSIDERING THE ISSUE.
WE HOPE THEY TAKE IT SERIOUSLY; WE THINK THEY WILL.
WHAT WAS THE PRIMARY ISSUE HERE?
WELL, THE PRIMARY ISSUE THAT WE WERE ARGUING ABOUT TODAY
IS THE QUESTION OF WHETHER ONE OF THE WITNESSES
TESTIFIED FALSELY AND WHETHER THE PROSECUTION
HAD ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THAT.
WE PUT FORTH ARGUMENTS; THEY DID—
WE’RE ASKING THE DISTRICT COURT TO GET THE CASE BACK
TO BE ABLE TO RESOLVE THOSE QUESTIONS.
SO THIS EVIDENTIARY HEARING IS—
WHAT THIS WAS NOT AN EVIDENTIARY HEARING,
BUT THAT’S WHAT WE’RE ASKING FOR.
THAT’S EXACTLY RIGHT.
WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT SOME OF THE QUESTIONS
THE JUDGES HAD?
THEY WERE KIND OF—
I THINK HAVING DONE THIS FOR A WHILE,
THE JUDGES ARE GOING TO HAVE ALL SORTS OF QUESTIONS,
AND THAT’S PART OF THIS PROCESS.
I MEAN, I THINK IT’S IMPORTANT THAT THEY GET THE ANSWERS.
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU TALKED TO YOUR PARENTS,
AND HOW WERE THEY DOING AS YOU GUYS HEADED TO COURT TODAY?
YEAH, JUST LAST NIGHT.
SO THEY TUNED IN TODAY; THEY WATCHED THE WHOLE HEARING.
AND THEY’RE FEELING HOPEFUL,
THEY’RE PRAYERFUL THAT THE JUDGES JUST SEE
TRULY WHAT’S GOING ON IN THE RECORD.
WHAT DID YOU THINK ABOUT SOME OF THE QUESTIONS—
HOW THEY WERE GRILLING THE PROSECUTION IN PARTICULAR
ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED?
I MEAN, THAT’S THEIR JOB.
THAT’S THEIR JOB, AND I RESPECT THEIR JOB.
AND I RESPECT THAT THEY’RE ASKING THE REALLY TOUGH QUESTIONS.
AND I KNOW THAT THEIR QUESTIONS WERE TOUGH,
BUT WHEN THEY GO AND LOOK AT THE RECORD,
THEY’RE GOING TO SEE THAT, FRANKLY,
WHAT THE GOVERNMENT SAID WAS NOT TRUE.
AND HOW ARE YOU AND YOUR SIBLINGS HOLDING UP?
YOU KNOW WHAT? WE COME TOGETHER AS A FAMILY.
WE COME TOGETHER AS A FAMILY; WE LOVE ON EACH OTHER.
AND WE’RE ALL WE’VE GOT.
YEAH, I MEAN, THIS WAS A STEP TOWARD GETTING
THE JUSTICE THAT YOU WANT.
IT WAS.
IT WAS A STEP TO GETTING MY PARENTS HOME
BECAUSE I BELIEVE IN LAW AND ORDER.
I BELIEVE THAT WE SHOULD HAVE A SYSTEM
THAT HOLDS PEOPLE ACCOUNTABLE,
BUT I ALSO BELIEVE THAT THE GOVERNMENT
SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE AS WELL.
HOW MUCH DO YOU WANT YOUR PARENTS HOME?
I—I WANTED THEM HOME YESTERDAY.
I WANTED THEM HOME A YEAR AGO.
WHERE THEY’RE AT IS JUST—
IT’S SHAMEFUL.
WHAT HAS THIS DONE TO YOUR FAMILY?
UM, YOU KNOW WHAT? ME, CHASE, GRAYSON, AND CHLOE,
AND ANNIE FAY, WE HAVE ALL COME TOGETHER,
AND WE ARE CLOSER THAN EVER.
