There’s the famous Oak Island legend: six people have died, then a seventh has to die in search of the treasure.

That’s when all will be revealed.

From the discovery of a hidden network of tunnels to the unearthing of a fascinating section of the island that could be the link to all the secrets concerning Oak Island, here’s how the Oak Island brothers just opened a secret door in The Money Pit.

Looking back now, one may be filled with amazement when they realize that the treasure hunting mission that many have embarked on when they headed over to the mysterious island is still going strong today.

You’d have bet that when Daniel McGinnis came across that strange circular depression in the middle of the floor that warm afternoon, he wouldn’t have guessed that more than 200 years later, many people would be making their way to the island just to see if they could find the mysterious treasure rumored to be hidden there.

Maybe they would have stayed at home when realizing that Daniel McGinnis was unable to discover the treasure—not because he was lazy or because his friends sabotaged the digging efforts, but because it appeared that the treasure did not want to be found.

Sure, they got encouraging signs that there must be treasure at the bottom of the massive pit they had dug for themselves; after all, the oak logs, coal, and coconut fiber they seemed to come across every time they hit depths of 10 feet told them that humans were definitely involved in the digging of this pit.

They just needed to get to the bottom to find out what these people may have been hiding.

Alas, those who followed the Daniel McGinnis group to explore what may be within this massive pit found that they were not superior to their predecessors.

The likes of the Truro Company and the Toronto group, who found their way to the island in search of this treasure, would discover that the island may not want these men to leave with the treasure in their boats.

The problems seemed almost unconquerable.

If it wasn’t the massive depths they had to dig into, it was the several booby traps that ensured all the treasure hunters left the island with nothing but misery.

It’s the end of the piracy era, right?

So everybody’s thinking buried treasure.

No matter how deep they get, they keep finding more planks that appear to be concealing something.

We’re talking about booby traps such as the flooding mechanism that fills any shaft dug by prospective treasure hunters.

Perhaps it may be because of the curse rumored to be looming over the treasure hunting mission on the mysterious island.

Apparently, it is said that the curse will prevent anybody from finding the treasure rumored to be hidden on Oak Island.

The only way that the treasure may be discovered is if seven individuals lost their lives in the process of searching for this elusive treasure.

Records indicate that about six unfortunate souls have met their demise while looking for the treasure on Oak Island.

We’re pretty sure nobody is going to volunteer their lives now that they may be so close to the treasure, but we’re sure the sentiment may be appreciated so that one lucky soul may reap the reward of this treasure hunt.

So, we’re looking at dirt that nobody else has ever seen.

That’s right, right there—that’s for sure.

It must be frustrating to those subject to the whim of this curse, especially as they had given their all toward looking for this treasure on Oak Island.

That said, it must be even more puzzling to these men because technically they do not know exactly what they may be looking for.

What we mean is that as much as there is a rumored curse surrounding the treasure, there are even more rumors as to who exactly this treasure may belong to.

Considering that Daniel McGinnis, a resident of the island, only began digging into what is now known as the original Money Pit because of the many rumors surrounding treasure on the island all the way back in 1795, it is clear that the rumors of treasure have been part of the lore and history of this fascinating spot located just off the south coast of Nova Scotia.

As such, it begs the question: who could have made that long journey to the remote island just to hide their fortune from the world?

Considering the fact that Oak Island was a prime location for pirates to hide away from the forces looking to eradicate them from the seas following the Golden Age of Piracy (which ranged from the mid-1600s to the early 1700s), one could logically assume that the treasure must have belonged to one of the legendary pirates that sailed the seven seas for plunder and treasure all those years ago.

As such, some point to the likes of Captain Kidd as the owner of this fabled treasure.

As plausible as these rumors of pirates owning the treasure might be, there are others who point to the likes of the rich and famous who existed sometime before the creation of the original Money Pit.

Some point to Marie Antoinette, believing she must have stashed her treasure on Oak Island.

The belief was that she may have tried to hide her vast fortune, along with that of her husband, King Louis XVI, on the island so they could have access to it once they escaped the grasps of the enraged French peasants who were seeking the blood of any royals or nobles during the French Revolution.

As ghoulish yet convincing as the account of the fallen queen might be, there are still others who claim that the treasure cannot belong to the likes of Marie Antoinette or some unconfirmed pirates.

No, they believe that the treasure may not even be that of a vast amount of gold hidden somewhere on the island—at least, they don’t think that it could be that alone.

If you asked these individuals, they’d also tell you that this treasure may have consisted of the unpublished manuscripts of Sir William Shakespeare, the legendary playwright who penned famous works such as “Romeo and Juliet” and “The Merchant of Venice,” among many other classics.

There are even rumors that say it was Sir Francis Bacon—not Sir William Shakespeare—who wrote these famous works.

With any luck, those who discover the treasure will be able to help us confirm if the works were written by Shakespeare or his also famous fellow countryman.

As much as we may want to claim that the treasure may belong to a single individual, the vast nature of the treasure that is rumored to be hidden down there somewhere on Oak Island has made some speculate that it may not be possible for the gold and other treasures to belong to one individual.

Perhaps it’s because of that, and the fact that there have been several artifacts discovered on the island, that many people have compelling arguments that could make us believe the treasure may belong to the Knights Templar.

Too many coins and lead crosses have been found on the island to dismiss this claim, and as such, not only are people forced to wonder if the treasure belonged to them, but also if the Knights Templar made it to the island during their heyday in medieval times.

This would mean that history books would have to be altered, as it may prove that Christopher Columbus was not the first to make it to the Americas.

One can see the mystery surrounding the treasure.

That is why there are millions of fans who follow the Lagina brothers and their crew as they search for this elusive treasure on the captivating island.

One can see how they’ve spent a little more than a decade following all the clues they can in order to be the ones to emerge supreme in the face of all their predecessors, if and only if they are able to unearth the hidden treasure of Oak Island.

Together with the A&E Network and the History Channel, the Lagina brothers have been hoping to discover this treasure for some time now.

This takes us back to a moment in time when a pre-teen Rick Lagina came across a boulder back home.

This is probably when his desire for treasure hunting began to take hold of him because just like Daniel McGinnis all those years ago, Rick got his brother Marty and their friends to see if they would find any treasure in that boulder.

Unfortunately for the kids, they came away with nothing despite their best efforts.

We’re delighted to say that this treasure hunting enthusiasm never died within the boys, especially Rick.

Maybe it’s because he came across a Reader’s Digest that told him all about the mysteries of Oak Island and the treasure rumored to be hidden there.

Invigorated by this knowledge, Rick has moved along with his little brother Marty to do all they can to find this elusive treasure.

That is why today we follow the Lagina brothers and their crew on this treasure hunting adventure, while those at the History Channel and A&E Network broadcast this adventure to the world.

Luckily, this meant that we, the viewers of this fascinating tale, were on the scene as the Lagina brothers were on the verge of a major breakthrough that could prove to be the deciding factor in the discovery of the elusive treasure rumored to be hidden somewhere on Oak Island.

Turns out that this major breakthrough could be more than another chapter in this epic search for treasure.

It looked like this would be just the beginning of what could be another epic saga in the tale of these brave men who took on the treasure hunting challenge of Oak Island.

This chapter began when Rick Lagina and Billy Gart learned that Laird Jack and Charles had just come across a potential discovery that may blow their search for treasure right out of the waters.

This was the discovery of an underground tunnel that just happened to be located within the region of the island owned by Samuel Ball, one of the most historical figures that ever lived on the captivating island.

Eager to see what they may find within this underground tunnel, the team decided to head over to the site.

Soon, the team was left in awe at the massive void they found beneath the rocks.
